Women are life and freedom

For all the people of Kurdistan.

This year 2022, in the southern Kurdistan region 39 women have been killed in less than 11 months!!

Over the past 12 years, more than 2700 women and young girls have been killed, meaning more than 220 women are killed each year, either forced to commit suicide or burn themselves. Some of them are the wildest in public places and in front of the public, they are rained on and burned by the fire!

Thousands of women file more than 6000 complaints against violence in the neighborhood of police. These statistics are very dangerous and the government, parliament and president of Kurdistan Region should believe that this is a threat to our national security and national security!!

Violence against women and killings has increased in a way that it has become dangerous and heartbreaking for women and human rights organizations inside and outside the Kurdistan Region government and even there is doubt. If this region is a suitable and safe place for women !!!!

While and during the 16-day campaign to stop violence against women, the Ethihad court in Iraq issued a decision that Article 18 of the 15th of 2008 is unconstitutional to Kurdistan Region. This decision is a dangerous precedent for the Kurdistan Region, which takes away the constitutional rights of the region and on the other hand, a violation of the women's rights which deprives the rights of women to be married. The second one is not a reason to ask for divorce, while this law has been implemented for 14 years in Kurdistan Region without any problem.

What concerns us more is the lack of serious and relentless reactions to the federal government's decision and the phenomenon of violence and murder of women and the pardon of criminals through Sulih and Steal. Inviting those who have guns and killers are protected and not sentenced to court, which is the main cause of the ongoing and increasing women killings.

In order to prevent the killing of women, the following steps should be taken:

First: The government should take serious measures to protect women and young girls from electronic harassment and in the workplace.

Second: Kurdistan parliament is observing and following the implementation of laws that address violence and discrimination against women.

Third: Enforcing laws that directly or indirectly condemn violence against women or killings such as kidnapping, rape and sex abuse and .... Etc.t.c.

Fourth: The Kurdistan Region government should implement all the plans and strategies to prevent violence against women.

Fifth: Providing necessary financial, human and technical resources to all government and private offices to promote and prevent violence against women.

Sixth: The law should be ruled and imprisonment in the affairs of the courts and the end of the manhood of the justice system in Kurdistan.

Seventh: The media should play an effective role to bring awareness to the society about the dangers of violence and killing of women on families and communities and in a responsible way to avoid violence and murder of women.

Eighth: People should not be allowed to have guns at home including those operating in security, police and or Peshmarga should only have weapons while working.

Ninth: the implementation of the laws, decisions and agreements that Kurdistan Region as a region over the federal government should be complyed with the decision 1325 and the agreement of Sidaw.

Dayam: Implementing the law of compensation for Yazidi women who survived the hands of ISIS and attempting to find and return those who are unlawful.

The seventh: Protecting women activists and organizations from threats and threats, because these are an important human cold and valuable institutions of Kurdistan society.

The twelfth: We confirm that the date 20/2/2022 (Shniar Hunar) was burnt to be the day of stop killing women in Kurdistan. (Shnyar Art) is like a symbol for all those women who have been burned or killed wildly in the past)

Thirteenth: The parliament and the president of Kurdistan Region should take action as soon as possible against the decision of the Ethiopian Court.

Fourteenth: The Women Alliance of Kurdistan asks for support from all the related parties of the region, the academic organizations, the human rights organizations and the international government to oppose the decision. The federal court of Bustin and declared that the Kurdistan Region will not go under the imposition of that decision.

Finally, we confirm that all parties need to work together to stop killing women.
